More than 25,000 People Attended the 2013 Bollywood Monster Mashup!

Mississauga: As part of a cultural fusion in collaboration with the Mississauga Arts Council, Bollywood Monster Mashup (creation of Artistic Director Vikas Kohli) joined forces with Kaleidoscope Chinese Performing Arts Society (KCPA) to bring together Chinese Musicians, Indian Singers and Western Musicians. The result was the BOLLYWOOD DRAGON ORCHESTRA, which featured singers Ferzana, Himanshu Merchant, Tanveer Badar, and Prita Chhabra who performed hit Bollywood songs with a Western-Chinese twist!

For the first time ever, Indian, Chinese and Western Music fusion was presented so ingeniously in the GTA and was very well received at the Bollywood Monster Mashup 2013 event on August 24th at the Mississauga Celebration Square.

Western Musicians included multi-instrumentalist Lorenzo Castelli on the base, Jay Burak on the drums, the rocking guitarist Geoff Willingham and Jake Payne on the keys. Chinese Musicians included Lan Ye on Pipa, Feihong Nan on the Guzheng (Chinese Zither) and Linlin Wang on the Erhu. In spite of being unrelated to Indian Music, these musicians picked up on the nuances of Indian Music masterfully. With their support well known singers Ferzana, Himanshu Merchant and Tanveer Badar sang songs spanning the Bollywood film era.

With people dancing to renditions of hit songs Mere Angne Mein, Duma Dum Mast Kalandar, Apni To Jaise Taise, Choli Ke Peeche, Bumro, Nimbooda and many other songs, and wanting simply more!, The Bollywood Dragon Orchestra definitely created an evening to remember.
